Attachment:
1. Agricultural Truck Parking.
The two trucks and four trailers are owned and operated by the Mettlers.
The truck and trailer leave and return once a week on the average. They haul material
throughout the United States. The other trailers are used once every other week on the
average.
2. Farm Services.
The two trucks and 35 double trailers are stored and idle on site from January
thru July until the grape season starts.
From August thru December the trailers are delivered to vineyards throughout
the area to pick up grapes. The grapes are delivered to various wineries in the area.
fq
The scheduling of the trucks and trailers to the various vineyards is thru the
Mettler Family Vineyards located at 7889 E. Harney Lane, Lodi, Ca. and not from the
Locust Tree Road site.
If needed 1 or 2 additional truck drivers are employed to deliver the trucks and trailers.
Variances Requested:
1. Parking: Development Title Section 9-1015.6 (c)(1), truck parking shall be a minimun of
25 feet in length and 15 feet in width. Due to the nature of the double trailers being stored
for a long period and the need to tip the tubs on the trailers to prevent water from entering
the tubs the tubs are hinged on the trailers and are tilted from its trailer unto the adjacent
trailer. The trailers have to be placed at a distance around 9 feet to accommodate the tilting
of the tubs. I have measured the distance needed to provide this and it measures 9 feet
between trailers that are currently being stored on site.
Request a variance from 15 feet to 9 feet in width for the trailers for the Farm Services.
2. Surfacing: Development Title Section 9-1015.5(e) all parking shall be surfaced with asphalt
concrete or portland cement concrete.
The truck and trailer parking area has been surfaced with grindings from recycled Asphalt
Concrete Road Construction. This material is rolled and compacted. It provides a flat,
structural sable surface. The surface is treated with Calcium Chloride once a year to keep
dust down.
Request a variance per Development Title Section 9-1015.9 that the requirements may
to be modified by the Director to allow the recycled Asphalt Concrete surface.
3. A San Joaquin county project to resurface Locust Tree Road from Harney Lane North to
Highway 12 is to begin construction in April. As part to this project all current driveways
—=> will be surfaced or resurfaced with Asphalt Concrete. The requirement of installing a
Asphalt Concrete driveway should be waived.
