METHODOLOGY AND LIMITING CONDITIONS
Mr. Doug Heard, Kleinfelder Senior Geologist, conducted a site reconnaissance on July
3, 2008 to assess and photograph present site conditions. The approximate site
boundaries are shown on Plate 2, "Site Map," detail area maps are shown on Plate 3
and color photographs of the site are presented on Plates 4 through 6 (Appendix A).
The site conditions discussed below are limited to readily apparent environmental
conditions observed.
3.2. GENERAL SITE SETTING
The site is located south of Lone Tree Road, east of Carrolton Road, west of Van Allen
Road and north of Zumwalt Road, located northwest of Escalon, California. The
subject site is approximately 410-acres in size and at the time of Kleinfelder's site
r.
reconnaissance the site consisted of orchard, row crop, a dairy and rural residences.
Lone Tree Creek trends east/west through the center of the site (see Photograph 5)
and divides APN 205-100-16 and 205-100-17. The southern portion (APN 205-100-17)
of the site consisted of an orchard. Irrigation control structures and a pole-mounted
transformer were noted along the southern border of the parcel. A remnant burn area is l
located in the north central portion of the parcel (see Photograph 4). An apparent
plastic covered compost pile and residual white powder in an approximate 30-foot
diameter area (assumed to be lime material) was also noted in this immediate area
(see Photograph 36). There did not appear to be any hazardous materials or debris
within the burn area. Located in the center of the parcel was a single PMT,
approximate 500 gallon poly AST, electric motor, small concrete pad (staining noted at
the edges of the pad), a 14-inch diameter metal casing, and small soil pile. The soil pile
was approximately 6 cubic yards and appeared to be generated from installation of a
noted well (see Photographs 1 through 3).
i
What appeared to be asbestos cement pipe (Transite) was noted in the northeast
corner of the northern parcel adjacent to the creek. Minor debris was noted in the creek,
which included a refrigerator, a few tractor tires, and a piece of wood furniture along the
southern embankment.
The northern Parcel (APN 205-100-16) contains a dairy, agricultural fields and
residential structures. Irrigation control structures and standpipes are located
throughout the parcel. An irrigation well/pump was located on the north center border
of the subject site. An irrigation pump was located along the western border of thesit
within an unlined and dry irrigation canal (see Photograph 11). Tree domestic we
and an irrigation well are located along the eastern border of th6site. Pole moun ed
ti 95428.E01/ST08R693 29,2008
©2008 Kleinfelder Page 7 of 26
w
