Williamson Act Com atibilit Princi les:
1. The use will not significantly compromise the long-term productive agricultural capability of the
subject contracted parcel or parcels or on other contracted lands in agricultural preserves.
This principle can be made because the proposed use is for the production of food and is
an agricultural use as defined in the Williamson Act. The proposed project will not impact
the long-term productive agricultural capability of other contracted lands in the
agricultural preserves because the proposed Use Type, Animal Raising —Small Animals, is
considered an agricultural operation and promotes continued agricultural uses in the area.
2. The use will not significantly displace or impair current or reasonably foreseeable agricultural
operations on the subject contracted parcel or parcels or on other contracted lands in agricultural
preserves. Uses that significantly displace agricultural operations on the subject contracted parcel or
parcels may be deemed compatible if they relate directly to the production of commercial agricultural
products on the subject contracted parcel or parcels or neighboring lands, including activities such as
harvesting, processing, or shipping.
This principle can be made because the use is an agricultural use as defined in the
Williamson Act. The proposed project itself is an agricultural operation for the raising of
small animals on the contracted parcel and will not impair agricultural operations on
contracted land. Therefore, the proposed project will not significantly displace or impair
current or reasonably foreseeable agricultural operations on the subject contracted parcel
or parcels or on other contracted lands in agricultural preserves.
3. The use will not result in the significant removal of adjacent contracted land from agricultural or open-
space use. In evaluating compatibility a board or council shall consider the impacts on noncontracted
lands in the agricultural preserve or preserves
This principle can be made because the proposed Use Type, Animal Raising — Small Animal,
will encourage continued agricultural uses in the area and will not remove or displace an
agricultural operation on contracted land. Therefore, it will not result in the significant
removal of adjacent contracted land from agricultural or open-space use.
San Joaquin County PA-0800145/Pickens
Community Development Page 7
