May 11. 1VV6 d; 4bAM tscalon Uji lding & rlanning No ZY01 r.
S J C Community Development y `
Development Services Division _
Attn: Jason Jones
Application Number PA-0800145 (UP)
Recommendations:
1. The drawing submitted with the application will show an access road (driveway)for the project.
2. Access to the project will be allowed from Lone tree Road only.
3. The proposed project site location should be moved several hundred feet closer to the
residents/owners of the property where the noise, odor, deliveries, clean-up of pigeon waste,
disposal of dead birds and other activities associated with such an operation can be closely
supervised.
4. This facility will be inspected for cleanliness on a regular(quarterly)basis(since squab will be
raised for hurnan consumption) and to keep the birds treated for and free of disease as much as
possible,
i
Comments: _
The residents that live on Buerer Lane pay for and provide the labor and materials (gravel etc.)that is
necessary for the upkeep of the road that is not maintained by the County. This is a one car lane and
increased traffic would cause unfair costs, labor and inconvenience to Buerer Lane residents.
It is our understanding that a portion of the Lone Tree Creek has been designated as a wild life preserve, the
close proximity of the project and the diseases that pigeons carry(canker, which is deadly to wild birds
among other diseases)cause concern to our community. PMV-1,an agent that is very closely related to the
virus that causes Newcastle disease in chickens can be spread by infected pigeons.
Canadian Geese and Great Egret use Lorre Tree Creek as a stop over as part of their migration, killdeer,
ducks, pheasants, hawks, owls and other birds nest along Lone Tree Creek, and yes we do want to protect
their existence as much as we can.
Histoplasmosis is a disease caused by a fungus, which grows in pigeon droppings. Clean.-up of pigeon
droppings may cause some of the fungus to be released into the air. Protecting the health of those who
reside in our community is important.
Sincerely
Carol Norris
26638 Buerer Ln.
Cecilia Khan ,-
26650
Buerer Ln.
