The mechanical integrity of the
well has been adequately demonstrated by the required well log-
ging surveys and pressure testing of the casing, tubing, and
packer. The existing injection formation reservoir pressure was
determined and a step rate test was conducted to identify the
fracture pressure of the injection formation. This information
has been reviewed by the EPA and the well has been found to be in
compliance with the conditions of the permit. You are hereby
authorized to commence injection.
Based on the results of the step rate injectivity test, in-
jection into the well is not allowed to exceed a gradient of
0.911 psi/ft. To avoid initiating new or propagating existing
fractures in the confining layers, the maximum permitted injec-
tion pressure at the surface shall be 4, 100 psig, which is equiv-
alent to a bottom hole pressure of approximately 7, 813 psig.
This provision is in accordance with 40 CFR Part 146.23 (a) (1) .
All other permit conditions shall remain in effect as
described in the Final Permit for the referenced well, effective
May 14 , 1990.
If you have any questions on these actions, please contact
Lester Kaufman, Chief, Underground Injection Control Section, at
(415) 705-2107 or George Robin, UIC Environmental Engineer, at
(415) 705-2104 .
Sincerely,
,V,,/Harry Seraydarian, Director
Water Management Division
