rr L1 INC
Formation of Pleistocene age. There is approximately 3 , 000 feet
of sediment between the fresh water zone being pumped and the
proposed 700 foot thick injection zone.
Salinity within the proposed injection zone is on the order of
10, 000 parts per million. The salinity of the injectate will be
less than that of the formations into which it is being injected.
The design injection rate is 77 gallons per minute (2 , 640 barrels
per day) . The maximum injection rate is 150 gallons per minute
(5, 143 barrels per day) . Volumetric calculations indicate that
the injectate will not migrate beyond the 1/4 mile fixed radius
of the Area of Review during the 25 year life expectancy of this
project.
The non-hazardous waste will be injected through a string of
tubing to the injection intervals. A packer will be utilized to
isolate the tubing/casing annulus from the perforated injection
zones.
A monitoring program has been designed to monitor and report
regularly on the injection zone, injectate, and mechanical
integrity of the well. The table attached is a summary of this
monitoring program.
In addition, the waste water treatment/injection well area will
be monitored for leaks and equipment failures on a 24-hour basis
by plant personnel and automatic sensors. Adequate above ground
storage has been designed into the project to handle emergencies.
2
