Gen. Injection Well
San Joaquin County depends almost entirely upon ground water for
its domestic, industrial and agricultural water supply. In 1972
a comprehensive well construction ordinance and standards were
adopted to insure the protection of this water supply. The
implementation of this ordinance and standards was delegated to
! the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division. Based upon
our local responsibilities to protect underground water in this
community the Environmental Health Staff has the following
concerns regarding this project:
1 . EPA, the lead agency, should identify the individual
assigned to monitoring this project . The assigned person
identified should be updated as needed so that questions
regarding the project operation can be addressed .
2 . Copies of all monitoring reports outlined in the draft
permit should be made available to San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division.
3 . Sampling should be conducted monthly at random instead of
every third Tuesday as prescribed under Monitoring
Requirements for incoming Sharpe Army Depot water.
4 . San Joaquin County Planning Department Use Permit 89-22 was
approved with conditions concerning this project . The
injection well permit should include these conditions .
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
