Eighth Street, Stockton, said that as Muslims they look at education as their number 1 <br /> priority_ He does not think there will be a problem with traffic. <br /> Kalil Scaffi,4964 Bayview Circle, Stockton, said that he is speaking on behalf'of the Stockton Student <br /> mosque. He said that it is very important for all children as well as Muslim children to have the ability to hold <br /> and to strengthen their religi©us identity. He added that:there.is'no.lslamic.s.chool available in the:area; and: <br /> as a Muslim it.is very important to teach their faith: <br /> Richard Jones, 275 E_ Popular Street, Lodi,said he is the..pre.sident and chief exe.cutive.:officer:of.the Lodi <br /> Boys and Girls Club and also the president of the.Lodi Uhified:.School.District Board of Education. For the <br /> past 10 years the Lodi Boys and Girls Club have opened their doors to the.Musliri�commur ityto.alloW them <br /> to come into the facility for prayers. The Muslims'are good people and know-how to conduct themselves as <br /> gentlemen. <br /> Mr. Shah said he was the first Muslim to come to Lodi in 1957, and he is in support of the project. <br /> Pastor Ricky Hem said he lives across the street from the proposed project.. He has 10 acres and has.also <br /> planned on someday building a church_ He does not feel that this project will impact the agriculture. Mr. <br /> Hem thinks this is going to be a very good facility for the Muslims. <br /> Tar Kaundi,4259 Pinehurst Circle, Stockton said they have two major festivals a year. Mr. Kaundi indicated <br /> that during these festivals there is no partying or drinking. The festivals are held to meet the families of <br /> other members_ <br /> Vasimar Karm, 717"K" Street, Sacramento, Executive Director of KR Counsel of the Sacramento Valley, <br /> said that the population of the Muslim community is increasing rapidly, including Lodi. The Muslim <br /> community is in need of centers and facilities for religious services, cultural activities, and educational <br /> services. He urged the County officials to approve this project_ <br /> Fatima Parvez, 4804 Grouse Run Drive, Stockton, said that she is in support of the Farooqia Islamic Center. <br /> The Farooqui Islamic Center will accommodate men, women, and children in their community. She is one <br /> of the parents who travels over 160 miles a day to take her children to school in Sacramento. The center <br /> will be a great relief to those parents who travel so far. She urged staff to approve the project_ <br /> Francisco Trujillo, 831 S. Pleasant Street, Lodi, said he has established a good relationship with the Muslim <br /> community in Lodi. He said that they are pushing for a better education. <br /> Commissioner Solari indicated that anyone with new information is welcome to present it. They may come <br /> forward and speak. <br /> Ruby Nasco, Director of the Neighborhood Center for Community Partnership for Families of San Joaquin, <br /> said they have six (5) family resource centers in Lodi and Stockton. She said that the Farooqia Islamic <br /> Center is very much needed. She urged staff to approve the project. <br /> Tahir Monscur, 1770 Hiddenbrook Court, Manteca, said he is in support of the Farooqia Islamic Center. <br /> Admid Marnmood, Stockton, said he is asking the staff's support of the project. <br /> Noel Shah, representative of the South Asian Cultural Club as well as the Muslim People of Lodi, said the <br /> kids have realized that there is no recreation in Lodi for children_ The children would like to see this project <br /> happen so that they could learn more of their culture and religion. <br /> Moharnmad Adil said he is the applicant of this project.
