JAMES D ROBINSON, PE, CEG Page 7
September 1, 2010
Project Number 2010-1015
proposed project. The data discussed above was imported into a mass balance calculation and is
presented below:
• f
I
Summary of Mass Balance Analysis
Results 9 mg/L of Nitrogen
Acres '
Maximum average.daily flow 240 gallons
Estimated N concentration QmgAL of nitrogen
Denitrification 15 %
Rainfall Percolation 5.76 in/yr
Mass Balance calculation using the Hantzsche-Fennemore Equation is located in the
appendix.
Impact of Nitrogen Loading
The subject property is relatively flat; therefore surface water is not anticipated to be affected
by the any nitrogen loading. Subsurface water is located approximately 50 feet below the ground
surface. Subsurface impacts are discussed below.
4. DISCUSSION OF NITRATE LOADING RESULTS
Total Nitrate Impact
Based on the mass balance calculations and the assumptions and averages used in this
study, the nitrate loading balance from the proposed bouquet winery and restroom on the parcel
should not cause any additional build up of nitrates in the aquifer by more then 4.9 mg/L of
Nitrogen.
JAMES D ROBINSON,PE,CEG ENVIRONMENTAL•ENGWEERING•GEOLOGY
PHONE(209)642-5445•FAX(209)740-4303
