Matthews :
GERARD FONOSE
KIPON
ROBERT FULLER This district has reviewed the site plan and
correspondence from the architect for Ripon Fire Station
CHESTER MILLER #2 .
TRACT
CHRISTOPHER K. ELEY Below are items of concern to this district that
LE°AL.° .S.R should be considered before approval :
1 ) The retention pond is proposed for storm water
only, but because the pond appears to accept runoff from
all the parking lot area, the pond will undoubtedly
receive water from other actions , is , vehicle washing,
landscape irrigation , etc . Because of the potential
intermittent water releases to the pond, the site is
deemed a potential mosquito breeding source . The pond,
shouldjthen be constructed , operated, and maintained to,'
prevent mosquito breeding,. The concept of landscaping the
site may not be conducive to mosquito prevention if
intermittent water is allowed . Vegetation and water
provide the perfect mosquito breeding medium, so it may
seem feasible to consider separating the north west area
of the pond from the southeast area. The northwest area
could be maintained vegetation free for vector prevention,
the southeast could be landscaped for other activities .
I would suggest that the pond be graded so that any
water in the pond flow from the southeast area to the
northwest . This will keep receding water confined to the
unlandscaped area designed for vector prevention . The
site plan does not describe soil characteristics for this
area- is the pond going to be constructed with dry well
( s ) ? If so the exposed dry-well pipe should be adequately
filled with rock to prevent water from ponding within the
pipe.
2 ) This district requests that the site remain open
for inspection and treatment by personnel and equipment .
Landscaping, fencing, or building construction should be
planned with this request in mind.
