NN.. ../
F
itional wastewater constituents may consist of coffee, juices or other similar type liquids to
system. It is also imperative that no industrial or commercial chemicals, solvents, excessive
ners, etc. are introduced into the septic system, as well as other items such as sanitary napkins,
any paper products other than toilet paper, cloth, plastic, cigarettes, etc.
WASTEWATER FLOW VOLUME PROJECTIONS
A number of variables are involved in estimating wastewater Average Daily Flows (ADF) from a
commercial facility. Wastewater flow volume projections for facilities in unsewered areas of San
Joaquin County have been historically and typically calculated under one or more the following
guidelines:
1. Data published in the San Joaquin County Sewage Standards.
2. Data published in the scientific literature.
3. Number of bathroom fixtures for a facility, leading to calculated bathroom use per capita.
4. Number of parking spaces for a facility.
5. Maximum number of known people on-site (e.g., employees, customers, etc.).
6. Historical wastewater flow data from an existing or comparable facility.
The following list of flow projection determinations describe the rationale for arriving at the
average daily effluent flow volumes for the Manteca RV Storage Park:
1. The San Joaquin County Sewage Standards assigns 30 gallons per person for"Day Workers"at
offices. It is my understanding that there will be one receptionist and one salesperson within the
Office Building.
2. The total number of fixtures for the new Office Building is proposed to be one toilet and one sink.
The Sewage Standards assign 150 gallons per toilet fixture/day(employee/public use).
3. Assign a maximum number of flushes of all on-site toilets that could occur over an eight-hour day.
It can be reasonably concluded that a near-maximum of 6 flushes per hour(1 flush/10 min)could
occur daily with employee/customer use, at a low flow volume of 1.5 gals/flush.
4. The total number of parking spaces for the Office Building is 4 regular, 2 handicap,4 RV size-for
a total of 10. This gives an estimate for the number of employees, customers, etc. who may be on-
site at any given time of the day. Fifteen gals per day are assigned to each parking stall.
The criteria referenced above will be used to formulate an ADF from the Manteca RV Storage Park Office
Building:
i0 2 office people=60 gpd
O 10 parking stalls x 15 gals assigned to one person parked in one stall= 150 gpd
O 1 toilet x 150 gallons per day= 150 gpd
® 8 hrs/day x 6 flushes/hr=48 flushes per day x 1.5 gals/flush=72 gpd
Average=60+(150+ 150)+72=432_3 = 144 gpd ADF for the New Office Building
9
Chesney Consulting
