• CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
In summary, the soil conditions in the percolation test locations appear to be suitable for
use with on-site septic systems. Satisfactory soil percolation rates of less than 2.4
min/in (Parcel 1) and less than 4.3 min/in (Parcel 2) were observed in the test locations.
No new construction is planned for the Site.
The depth of ground water based on recent aquifer levels is estimated to range between
62 to 65 feet below ground surface. The ground-water flow is to the northwest or north-
northwest at a rate of approximately five to eight feet per mile.
A water sample was collected from the domestic water well. Nitrate was detected at a
concentration of 8.9 mg/L-N in the water sample. DBCP was detected at a
concentration of 0.03 ug/!_ in the sample. The US EPA has set the Maximum
Contaminant Level (MCL) for nitrate as nitrogen at 10 mg/L. It has set the MCL for
DBCP at 0.2 parts per billion (ppb, equivalent to ug/L) because it believes that, given
present technology and resources, this is the lowest level to which water systems can
reasonably be required to remove this contaminant should it occur in drinking water.
The Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) for DBCP is zero.
We believe the Site suitable for the use of standard septic systems utilizing leach lines
• and sumps.
•
LOGE 1613 Page 8
