Ground Water Information
Depth and Gradient
Live Oak reviewed ground water elevation information available from the San Joaquin
County Flood Control and Water Conservation District to determine the ground water
levels near the Site. Data from spring and fall of 2009 were the most recent available
from this source. According to an analysis of these maps (Plates 5 and 6), ground
water elevation is 20 to 30 feet above mean sea level; ground water flows down to the
northwest at a rate of approximately 12 feet per mile in the vicinity of the Site.
Given that the ground elevation of the Site is approximately 78 to 82 feet, the depth to
water below the Site is estimated to range between 48 to 62 feet.
Potential Ground Water Contamination Issues
The Soil Suitability Study is not intended to be an investigation into ground-water
contamination sources, and no such investigation was conducted. Many sources can
contribute to ground water contamination, including leaking underground storage tanks,
agricultural activities, dairies, septic systems, and storm water infiltration. Agricultural
activities and the use of septic systems in the area are known ground water
contamination sources with the potential to impact the Site.
Live Oak reviewed the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department's Water
Well Data Table dated March 10, 2009 for nearby addresses that have been tested for
nitrate and dibromochloropropane (DBCP). Eight nearby wells were identified at
addresses located within approximately two miles of the Site. Five of the wells had
been tested for DBCP, it was detected in four at levels ranging from 0.26 to 2.96 parts
per billion (ppb). Nitrate as NO3 was detected in all eight wells at concentrations of 18
to 135 parts per million (ppm). The Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) set by the US
EPA for nitrate as NO3 is 45 ppm; the MCL for DBCP is 0.2 ppb.
On-Site Wells
One domestic II a one irrigation ell exist on the Site, as depicted on Plate 2.
Three w_ rmits for a Site w entified at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department.
• August 1977 permit for pump repair at well at 19242 E. Highway 120.
• September 1977 permit for new irrigation well at 19242 E. Highway 120.
• July 1986 permit for destruction and replacement of domestic well at
19238/19242 E. Highway 120.
These permits have been included in Appendix 4.
LOGE 1103 Page 3
