The boring was four inches in diameter, 3.20 ; <br /> feet deep, and was excavated by hand auger. The boring location is indicated on Plate <br /> 2. <br /> The soil in the boring was similar to that described by the Soil Survey, silty sand was <br /> observed from the surface to the maximum depth of the boring (3.20 feet). The log for <br /> the soil boring is presented in Plate 9. <br /> Discussion of Soil Lithology <br /> Based on the soils observed in the boring, there appears to be moderate potential for <br /> percolation. Sandy soils generally have a much greater potential for percolation than <br /> fine-grained or cemented soils. However, a percolation test is the only accepted <br /> method for determining the suitability of the soils for a Sep disposal sici posal area.
