SC - SM
Note: Conditions were comparable in all holes, shallow and deep.
6.
5.4 Discussion of Soil Lithology
LA visual inspection of the shallow and deep soils from on-site drilling indicates potential for
satisfactory percolation. A percolation test is the best method to determine the suitability of the
soils. Please see the next section for percolation test results. Generally speaking, gravelly soils have
much greater potential for percolation than fine-grained soils.
L 6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
6.1 Percolation Test Locations
LA site map indicating the locations of the percolation test holes is included as Plate 1 of this report.
6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
One shallow percolation test was conducted on each proposed parcel of the Site. One deep
percolation test was conducted on each of Parcel 1 and Parcel 2. A total of four shallow and two
deep percolation tests were conducted.
6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
The shallow soil borings on Parcels 1,2, 3,and 4 were installed on January 10,2005 using a hand
L auger. The deep soil borings on Parcels 1 and 2 were installed on the Site with a truck-mounted
B53 augur rig on January 20, 2005.
L A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was installed in each boring after
placing approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel" in the bottom of the open soil boring. Several feet of
"pea gravel" was then backfilled in the annular space surrounding the PVC pipe..
L
8
L "044
V
