.►
DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED RECLAMATION
SUBSEQUENT USES
After removal of the mineral resources form the property described in this application, the property will
be returned to agricultural uses (Alfalfa). The quarry will be partially refilled using the
overburden/topsoil that was stockpiled on the site prior to the mining process. Figure 4 shows the
'— Reclamation Site Plan and the proposed post-reclamation topography.
RECLAMATION SCHEDULE
Reclamation will not be concurrent with the mining, but will proceed immediately only upon
completion of the mining process. As shown in the Production Schedule (Table 1), the mineral
extraction is anticipated to take 2 to 3 years to complete. It is anticipated that the quarry will be mined
by lowering the elevation of the entire mine area uniformly to a depth of 11 feet followed by further
excavation to a minimum depth of 14 feet in the southeast portion of the mine (see figure 3).
Upon the conclusion of mining, overburden will be replaced on the pit floor and side slopes. The
excavated area will be laser-planed and finished so that natural drainage will occur. Sump areas may be
_. provided to allow for runoff storage and percolation. Nutrients will be added to the topsoil, and a
farming lease negotiated. Reclaimed slopes will be hydroseeded and/or broadcast seeded with an
erosion control mixture. (A typical erosion control mix might consist of blando bromegrass, luna
pubescent wheatgrass, rose clover, and zorro annual fescue.) Finally, all equipment will be removed
from the site after the area is reclaimed.
.. The potential for future mining is preserved with the reclamation plan given its post-reclamation
agricultural use.
MONITORING AND MAINTENANCE
As the proposed reclamation plan consists of returning the property to agricultural uses, no specific
monitoring or maintenance plan is proposed.
Surface Mining Application Page 9
Landmark Lathrop, L.L.C.
