Section 9-905.12 of San Joaquin County Development Title states "Corrective Action: If
the report indicates there are surface and subsurface contamination, corrective action shall
be recommended in the report and concurred with by Environmental Health prior to the
issuance of the building permit." The only environmental concern witnessed on the subject
property_is the domestic well that served the residence before connection to California
Water Service. The well appears to be in-place with a gate valve on the outlet pipe. It has
typically been the policy of EHD to have defunct domestic wells on properties that are
served by a public water services to destroy these wells under permit. This is particularly
crucial if the well is an open casing in which contaminants could be poured, or migrate
directly into the groundwater. Therefore, it is my professional opinion that the policies of
EHD be implemented with regard to this well.
No septic system exists at this location and under the surrounding Parcels. Consequently,
the degree of nitrate-nitrogen impact that could be presently occurring from this source can
be considered nonexistent.
As noted on the Lines of Equal Elevation groundwater map, the static groundwater
elevation is approximately-30 feet. The USGS map indicates the surface elevation to be
approximately 27 MSL. Therefore, the depth to groundwater is approximately 57 ft. The
lines of Equal Elevation map shows the groundwater directional flow to be in a south-
southwesterly direction. This groundwater depth can be considered comparatively deep.
§ 5.2 The Appendices, found in Section 7 incorporate all of the applicable information
referenced in this Report.
§ 5.3 See Page 7 for signature and stamp.
§ 5.4 Mr. and Mrs. Miller are currently in the process of submitting the land use application,
through their representative, Mr. Del Dorman, P.L.S. - (209) 473-2825
§ 5.5 As referenced above, the Appendices contain the documentation to support the applicable
data and information found in this Report.
Page -6-
Chesney Consulting
