Peltier Road, Acampo, CA
Dear Mr. Schatz,
Per your request, our office has completed three (3)percolation tests on the subject
property. The percolation tests were performed in accordance with the method prescribed by the
San Joaquin County, Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division. Attached are the
percolation test forms and a copy of the permit.
The drilling and percolation test was conducted on a Assessor Parcel Number 017-150-
02. Three (3) shallow soil borings were excavated on Thursday, August 8, 2002. The pre-
saturation was performed on Monday, August 12, 2002 and the percolation tests was performed
on Tuesday, August 13, 2002. This work was performed in an effort to establish the percolation
rate of the soils within an area of the property that could potentially be used for a septic system.
All three percolation test holes were excavated to a depth of 3 feet using a post hole
digger. The soils were found to be a light brown silty sand. No ground water was encountered.
All three (3) of the percolation test borings were completed into shallow percolation test holes.
Within the boring, an inch of"pea gravel"was placed in the bottom of the hole to stabilize the
side wall from caving and prevent erosion while filling the boring. A 2-inch diameter PVC pipe
with open ends and slots was placed in the hole. About 6-inches of pea gravel was placed in the
annular space around the pipe. The hole was pre-soaked 24 hours prior to the test with 12 inches
of water above the bottom of the hole. During the percolation test, the fall of 6 inches of water
was measured above the top of gravel during the 1-hour test period in all three holes.
Measurements were made every 10 minutes for a 1-hour period. Mr. Johnny Yoakum, San
Joaquin County, Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division, observed the last '/2
hour of the test. The following table summaries the results of the percolation test:
V
