KLEINFELDER
An emplovee owned cornpam
JAN U 9 2002
File No. 20-4600-01
October 2, 2001 ENVi'iu6W1ENT HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
Mr. Rodney Schatz
R&G Schatz Farms, Inc.
18247 North Tretheway Road
Lockeford, California 95237
Subject: SOIL SUITABILITY AND NITRATE LOADING STUDY
MOKELUMNE RIM VINEYARDS
SOUTHWEST CORNER OF PELTIER AND KENNEFICK ROADS
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
INTRODUCTION
Kleinfelder has been retained by R&G Schatz Farms, Inc. to perform a soil suitability and nitrate
loading study for property located at the 6200 Peltier Road in San Joaquin County, California.
The purpose of our study was to determine the suitability of the property for septic tank usage.
This study was performed in accordance with the requirements of §9-101002 of San Joaquin
County's Ordinance.
PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
The proposed Mokelumne Rim Vineyards will occupy 38%2 acres. An approximate 11,000
square foot processing building will be located in the southwest corner of the parcel. There will
be one full time employee present at the facility during the entire year. During harvest from
August to November(generally August 20 to November 10th) two additional full-timeF91ployees
will use the facility. Finally, we understand that a consultant may be employed for approximately
three days per week during the harvest period. For design purposes, we have assumed
approximately 3'/2 personnel during the approximate 3 month harvest period. For the remainder
of the year, the septic system will be under-utilized. As an alternative, the wastewater can be
partially pumped during the harvest season to minimize the required leach field size. We
understand that wine tasting will be limited to once peX month on a wggkend un, t, l .Warate
wine-tasting facility is built according to the use permit (UP0012). Since the two facilities will
be several hundred feet apart, we anticipate that a second and possibly larger disposal system
will be required for the future tasting room. When the new tasting room is complete, the
anticipated hours of operation will be Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
The maximum capacity of the tasting room is estimated to be twenty occupants. Typically,
approximately 35 people per day are expected, each of whom may pend approximately 30
minutes actually in the facility.
20-4600-01/2011 L647 Page 1 of 5
Copyright 2001 Kleinfelder,Inc.
