E APPLICATION NO: PA-1000006 <br /> BUILDING DIVISION COMMENTS: <br /> b Table 602 of the California Building Code (CBC)regulates protection of exterior walls <br /> and openings based on distance to property lines. The exterior walls shall have a fire- <br /> resistant rating not less than that specified in Table 602 of the CBC. in accordance to <br /> Table 602 a group R-3 (dwelling) located 0 to 5 feet from the property line will require a <br /> fire-resistant rating of one hour. <br /> Section 704.5 of the CBC requires exterior walls located less than 5 feet from a property <br /> line to be rated for exposure to fire from both sides. <br /> Section 704.2 of the CBC regulates projections. Projections shall not extend beyond a <br /> distance as determined by the following: <br /> • A point one third the distance to the property line from an assumed vertical plane <br /> located where.protected openings are required. <br /> • Projecting more than 12" into areas with openings is prohibited. <br /> Section 704.8 of the CBC regulates the maximum area of openings permitted in exterior <br /> walls. Openings shalt not exceed the values set forth in Table 704.8 footnote"C".
