DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED USE <br /> This Use Permit application is for a monastery/meditation retreat center, which is <br /> classified by the Development Title as a Neighborhood Religious Assembly (less <br /> than two hundred and fifty (250) people. <br /> The proposal includes 2 housing units (Res.Type A) @ 1,650 sqft with 10 bedrooms <br /> and 3 units (Res. Type B) @1,500 sqft with 6 bedrooms each for overnight stays <br /> during meditation retreats only. These retreats will be 3 to 10 days in duration and will <br /> occur no more than 8 times per year. The existing single family residence (2109 <br /> sqft) will house 2-3 Monks year-round. An existing 5,000 sqft. steel barn will serve as <br /> an Ordination Hall to which will be added an extension of 3,700 sqft to include <br /> kitchen and dining facilities. An existing barn (1804 sqft) will be renovated to serve as a <br /> reception area for visitors. A new 5,900 sqft Assembly Hall measuring 32' high to the <br /> ridge with a 30' high steeple is also planned for. A 600 sqft maintenance shed <br /> adjacent to the parking area has also been included. <br />
