Highway 99
Stockton, CA 95212-1818
Subject: ADDENDUM TO
SOILS SUITABILITY AND
NITRATE LOADING STUDY DATED DECEMBER 5, 2002
POLLARDVILLE RESTAURANT AND THEATRE COMPLEX
10464 N. HIGHWAY 99
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Pollard:
Following our meeting with Mr. Ray Borges of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (EHD), attached is the design of the reserve septic system prepared by Don Chesney
Consulting of Turlock, California. Apparently, in the use permit dated July 12, 2000 operations
other than the restaurant and theatre described in our nitrate loading study were mentioned, such
as guided tours, special events, weddings in the gazebo, museum retail sales, etc. Based on our
discussions with you, we understand that these activities have always occurred at this facility but
may not be reflected in the flow quantities calculated from your pump test and electric bills.
EHD requires that these activities be incorporated into the nitrate loading study. We understand
that these events are sporadic at best therefore, the increase in sewage flow is difficult to
evaluate. For simplicity we have proposed a daily flow of 5,000 gallons per day seven days a
week compared to the 3,500 gallons per day figure described in the referenced report. Mr.
Borges has approved the use of this conservative figure which amounts to a 43 percent increase.
The only parameter this change impacts is the value of"A" which is the number of units per
acre. Instead of approximately 24 equivalent residential units on the 12.2 acre parcel the
increased wastewater flow now corresponds to 33 units. The revised value for "A" is therefore
33 divided by 12.2 which is approximately 3. The revised calculations are presented below.
Ne = 3(2)(5)(1 — .35) +.5(10.8) = 19.5 + 5.4 = 1.5 mg/1 as N
3(2)+ 10.8 6+10.8
As noted above the revised calculation for Nc is still less than the permissible value of 10 mg per
liter. The value for Ne is 9.6 mg/1 even if Nµ, is assumed equal to 40 mg/1 as shown on Page 5 of
the previously referenced report.
The other item requested by Mr. Borges is a plan for the reserve septic system. Attached please
find the report prepared by Don Chesney Consulting as well as the site plan showing the location
of the replacement system. This site plan also shows the locations of all existing leach lines, pits,
20-0268-01 /ST02R398 Page 1 of 2
Copyright 2002 Kleinfelder,Inc.
