LOGE 1714: Delicato SS/NLS Addendum Page 8
July 18, 2017
Discussion of Nitrate Loading Results
Total Nitrate Impact
Based on the methods and assumptions described, the result of the nitrate loading estimate
indicates that the existing and proposed development on the Site should not cause a buildup
of nitrates in the aquifer above 10 mg/L-N. Because of the satisfactory result, no mitigation
measures are recommended.
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the current project, the use of on-site septic tanks and drain field systems on the Site
is not expected to cause a buildup of nitrate in the aquifer above 5.16 mg/L-N. This level falls
below the US EPA drinking water recommendation of 10 mg/L-N. It should be noted that
ground water nitrate levels in some areas beneath the Site already exceed the US EPA's
recommendation, as identified during monitoring well testing required by the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board.
We believe the Site suitable for development with the use of standard septic systems. Based
on the satisfactory result of the nitrate loading calculation, no nitrate mitigation is
recommended.
LIMITATIONS
This report has been prepared for the exclusive purpose of processing of a land use
application at San Joaquin County. It is authorized for use only by the client, the property
owner, and the County agencies involved. The standard of care employed is typical for this
type of work in this area.
Test findings and statements of opinion are not a guarantee or warranty. Site conditions,
agency policies, and regulations are subject to change and may invalidate portions of this
report. Information in this report is derived from many sources; Live Oak cannot warrant the
accuracy or completeness of information provided by those sources.
The estimated flow values discussed in the Nitrate Loading Study should not be used for the
design and sizing of the septic system. The design and sizing of the septic system should
utilize the San Joaquin County Environmental Health On-Site Wastewater Disposal Standards
which incorporate peak and surge flow factors.
