.i
III. NITRATE LOADING STUDY FINDINGS
A. WASTEWATER FLOW CALCULATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS
To adequately determine nitrogen loading from the proposed conventional effluent leachfield,
_ wastewater flows must be determined as accurately as possible. These wastewater flow
determinations are primarily based on long-term growth projections. It is anticipated the Calvary
Bible Church will have meetings almost everyday of the week, with the possible exception of
Saturdays. As with most Churches, Sund#6 are the heaviest flow days of the week and influence
flow estimates and design criteria. The following calculations demonstrate flow projections for
Phase I and Phase II:
PHASE I: /
25,000 sq ft worship/education building: OJ 5/ Al
Initial seating for 600; to be expanded to 990 pew seats X 80%average occupancy= 800 people
800 people X 2 Services = 1600+ 500 students in one education session=2100 people/Sunday
Monday-Friday, approximately 50 people each day for 2 hr meeting= 5 days X 50=250 people
Children's midweek program=250 people
2100+250+250 =2600 people/wk X 5 gals/person= 13000 gals/wk- 7 days/wk=
1857 gaWday=Average Daily Flow(ADF)
PHASE H (3-5 yrs):
_ 12,000 sq ft offices/classrooms building+expansion of worship center:
Max 10 staff people, Monday through Friday
450 students each Sunday
Monday-Friday, approximately 50 people each day for 2 hr meeting= 5 days X 50=250 people=
10+450 +250= 710 people/wk X 5 gals/person=3550 gals/wk_7 days/wk=507gals/day ADF
PHASE III (Several yrs):
12,000 sq ft multi-purpose/recreation building for youth and recreation
200 people X 5 days/wk= 1000 people X 5 gals/person= 5000 gals/wk_ 7 days/wk=
720 gals/day ADF
Phase III wastewater flow calculations will not be factored into the design since it is anticipated
this Phase will be completely separate from Phase I and II. The septic system design for Phase
III should be based upon what has transpired with the first two Phases in combination with the
proposed usage at that future point in time.
Therefore,the following flow rates apply:
1857 (Phase I) + 507 (Phase II) =2364 gal/day ADF
In addition to conventional wastewater flows from restrooms, it is proposed to add a catering
kitchen to the Church. It is our understanding this kitchen will not be for primary food
preparation, but rather for the final stages of food preparation which has been brought to the
4
va[!ey Ag PPsearrh
