r
Mr. Sandi De Jong
September 25,2003
Page 14
Table 7.
Summa of Nitrate Mass Balance Analysis.
Calculation Result Acres Average Effluent Leachfield Deep Percolation
_ c _* (A) Daily Concen- Denitrifi- of Rainfall(R)
Flow(Q) tration cation(d) (Plate 1)
(Table 2) (Nw)
see Plate 9 1 9.9 m -N 1 3.5 1 LL2d 45 m -N 30% 6.84 in
* Maximum co urinate, level(MCL)for Nitrate in drinking water is 10 mg/L-N.Estimate does not include the
contrib m agriculture:-
Based on the method and assumptions described, the result of the nitrate loading balance
indicates the site will not cause a build up of nitrate in ground water above 10 mg/L-N over the
r
long term.
8.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
A satisfactory percolation rate was achieved on the parcel in the area of the proposed septic
system leach line. A nitrate loading balance was performed for the proposed business use. Based
on the assumptions used in this report and assumptions of the Hantzshe& Finnemore equation,
wd project will not cause a long term buildup of nitrates above 10 mg/L-N
in te believe the Uroposehe ground water. Our specific recommendations for the project are as follows:
-Install tamper resistant water meters to directly or indirectly meter waste water flow the
septic system. Monitoring review should be performed each year by staff of
Environmental Health Department or by our office. Should the average daily flow
rates measured exceed the 732 gallons per day, average daily flow, additional S
monitoring of ground water or nitrate removal will be necessary.
.,,,,r, --
-Install the 100 percent replacement area leach f d. A manu diversion valve should
be utilized to alternate each field severa times per year. We recommend
installing 4,000 gallons of tank size to promote clear effluent and denitrifica 'on.
Follow the San Joaquin County Sewage Standards wherr relevant.
.r
rpE RSO
1
r
O
rsoc.
r
