Ms.Lein ' November 17,2005
PA-0500708(SA) Page 3
• Construction activity mitigation measures include:
- Install sandbags or other erosion control measures to prevent silt runoff to public roadways from
sites with a slope greater than one percent
- Limit area subject to excavation, grading, and other construction activity at any one time
- Limit the hours of operation of heavy duty equipment and/or the amount of equipment in use
- Replace fossil-fueled equipment with electrically driven equivalents (provided they are not run via a
portable generator set)
- Require that all diesel engines be shut off when not in use on the premises to reduce emissions
from idling.
- Curtail construction during periods of high ambient pollutant concentrations; this may include
ceasing of construction activity during the peak-hour of vehicular traffic on adjacent roadways, and
"Spare the Air Days"declared by the District.
- Implement activity management(e.g. rescheduling activities to reduce short-term impacts)
- During the smog season (May through October), lengthen the construction period to minimize the
number of vehicles and equipment operating at the same time.
- Off road trucks should be equipped with on-road engines when possible.
- Minimize obstruction of traffic on adjacent roadways.
District staff is available to meet with you and/or the applicant to further discuss the regulatory requirements that
are associated with this project. If you have any questions or require further information, please call me at(559)
230-5800 or Mr. Hector R. Guerra, Senior Air Quality Planner, at (559) 230-5820 and provide the reference
number at the top of this letter.
Sincerely, ///
- w [ ✓vlC-t`J
Jessica R.
