The California Clean Air Act (AB2595), requires areas that are
designated nonattainment to reduce emissions 5% annually until standards are met.
The following rule has been adopted by the SJVUAPCD to reduce emissions
throughout the San Joaquin Valley, and is required:
• District Regulation VIII - Fugitive Dust Rules is a series of rules designed to
reduce PM,, emissions generated by human activity, including but not limited
to construction, road building, bulk materials storage and landfill operations.
The SJVUAPCD suggests that the project applicant take all feasible measures to
reduce the amount of dust (fine particulate matter-PM,o) and ozone precursors
(Reactive Organic Gases (ROG), and Oxides of Nitrogen (NO„ NOJ that will result
from construction of this project.
• All material excavated, graded or otherwise disturbed should be sufficiently
watered or otherwise treated to minimize dust entrainment.
David L.Crow
Esecidire Director Air Pollution Control Officer
Sorthem Region Cenral Region southem Region
