The nitrate concentration of rainfall was estimated to be 1 mg/L-N (Hantzsche and Z)
Finnemore, 1992).
Quantity and Quality of Domestic Wastewater
The estimated sewage flow rates for various uses are available from a number of
references. The uses presented below were guided by the San Joaquin County 4n-Site
Wastewater Disposal Standards (Sewage Standards; 2003), Crites and Tchobanoglous
(1998), and EPA (1980). The references indicate that 13 gallons per employee is typical
for an office worker (Crites and Tchobanoglous, 1998) and 15 gallons per employee is
typical for a worker in an industrial building (SJC, 2003); these rates were used for the
employees of the trucking facility. San Joaquin County indicates that 10 gallons per
vehicle is typical for a service station; that rate was used for the trucks entering the Site.
The estimated flow values discussed here should not be used for the design and sizing
of the septic system. The design and sizing of the septic system should utilize the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Sewage Standards which incorporate peak and
surge flow factors. The estimates used in the Sewage Standards may be greater than
those discussed here.
According to information provided in the Site Approval application, the proposed
trucking facility will be open seven
days per week year round. Five office employees
ees
and three
maintenance shop employees will be present Monday through Friday from 6,10
7.00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is anticipated that 10 to 15 trucks could enter and exit the Site
daily Sunday through Friday; up to 25 trucks are anticipated on Saturdays. The
following table describes the maximum expected uses of the facility.
Table 4. Use Levels
Staff Position Occupancy Level Days per week Hours
Office Staff 5 staff 5 days per week 7:00— 5:00
Shop Staff 3 staff 5 days per week 7:00— 5:00
TrailerlTruck Drivers 10-15 trucks 6 days per week NIA
(Sunday — Friday)
Truck Drivers 25 trucks 1 day per week , NIA
(Saturday)
A concentration of 85 mg/L of nitrate as N is selected for staff workers and truck drivers
(Crites and Tchobanoglous, 1998).
LOGE1025 Page 9
