..O,
January 14,2003
Job Number: LG02-460
Page 5
L
Table 2.
Selected Soil Properties of the Egbert Silty Clay Loam,
San Joaquin County Soil Survey Report 6
Soil Name and Map Depth(in) Unified Soil Salinity Soil Septic tank
Symbol Classification m r hos/cm Reaction absorption
PH fields
Egbert silty clay 0-8:Silty clay loam. The soil borings and percolation test borings were drilled
` utilizing a 6-inch truck mounted auger drill. The soil encountered on both parcels was nearly
identical. The surface layer was an organic brown silty fine sand to a depth of 4 feet underlain
by a clayey silt to a depth of 6 feet. The clayey silt is underlain by a silty clay with rust mottling
to a depth of 9 feet followed by a silty fine sand with rust mottling to a total depth of 10 feet.
The soils encountered during the drilling of the test holes differed slightly from soil type in the
6' San Joaquin County Soil Survey report. No clayey soils were encountered within surface layer.
A 3 foot deep shallow percolation test was completed adjacent to each 10 foot exploratory soil
boring. Plate I identifies the location of the percolation test borings. The percolation test casing
was constructed within each 3 foot deep percolation test boring. The casing used for the
r
percolation tests were 2-inch diameter PVC pipe with an open end on the top and bottom.
Perforations were made on approximately the last 12 inches of the PVC casing. Two inches of
"pea gravel"was placed in the bottom of the hole, the casing was installed, and one foot of"pea
gravel"was backfilled in the annular space. The percolation test boring was pre-soaked on
November 20, 2002, 24-hours prior to the test.
A four-hour percolation test was conducted on each parcel on November 21,2002 by David
Welch of Neil O. Anderson &Associates, Inc. The percolation test was conducted in accordance
with the requirements of San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division. The last 1/2 hour of
the percolation tests were observed by Larry Godinho, Registered Environmental Health
8" ,
