SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY J Y
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
GENE W. ANDAL, DIRECTOR ------p
February 169 1978
M E M O R A N D U M
TO: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
FROM: GENE W. ANDAL, DIRECTOR
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
SUBJECT: ROBERTS ISLAND MARINA
A review of the proposed development of a new marina facility,
just south of the County's Spud Island propertyg was reviewed by
the Delta Committee on February 14, 1978, The project proposes
to install covered berthing, dry storage, recreation vehicle
storage# boat ramp, restaurant and bait shop. A copy of the
preliminary Environmental Impact Report is attached for the
Commission's review prior to the meeting.
The Committee's comments on the project were as follows:
1. Same concerns about water quality as expressed on
the Paradise Point Marina expansion.
2. Same concea.,ns about the loss of a popular bank
fishing location and wildlife habitat as expressed
on the Paradise Point. project.
3. The issue was raised about the overcrowding of the
already busy Turner Cut and the potential hazards
that may result from increased development and
recreational access of this magnitude.
4. There may be a problem in the proposed design
which causes boats being launched to go directly
into the waterway or possibly into a service dock.
5. The potential and mitigation of noise generated
from the marina facilities should be thoroughly
analyzed to avoid sound pollution that effects
the recreational quality of the Delta.
WF
_:.
A: <I
1860 EAST HAZELTON AVENUE, STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA 95205 • . ..o
TELEPHONE: 12091 944 2T T8 4IF Op~
—CS—
