L 11400 %./
LJune 10,2005
NOA Project Number: E05070A
L3.3.2 Agricultural Condrbud'on
LBecause the Site will not be used for agriculture once it is developed, no agricultural contribution
was considered.
3.4 Future On-Site Sources of Nitrate
3 4.1 Quantity and Quality ofDomestic Wastewater From Proposed Project
LThe following discussion is for determining the long-term waste water flow generated from the
proposed office for the nitrate loading analysis and should not be used for septic system design
Lpurposes. Typically, use estimates for the sizing of septic systems include a peak use factor, whereas
the numbers discussed here are based on long-term averages.
For the proposed office and mini-storage facility,Mr. Greer indicated that he anticipates a single
employee for ten hours a day seven days a week. Mr. Greer also indicated that he anticipates four to
ten customer restroom visits per day.
The text from Crites and Tchobanoglous (1998) (Table 4-2) indicates that the typical office worker
(includes commercial workers) use rate is 13 gpd. The EPA (1980) Design Manual (Table 4-6)
indicates the typical use rate is 14.5 gpd for an office worker. Since the Crites and Tchobanoglous
(1998) information is the most current available, our office believes it provides the best estimate of
waste water flow for both the residential and office worker categories. Therefore, 13 gpd will be
Lused for each office worker. To identify the impact to the waste water flow from customer visits,
each visit to the Site is estimated to generate 5 gallons of waste water.
LThe following table presents the septic waste water uses associated with the Site. The rates
presented from the references provide general guidance but do not always reflect a match in usage.
Careful examination, professional judgement, and experience are necessary to select a reasonable
L flow rate estimate. The flow rates selected for the uses associated with this project are presented in
the following table.
Table 1.
Typical Quantity of Effluent from Commercial Sources.
Category Total People Average Quantity Average Daily Flow
per Day per Person Per Parcel
Employee 1 13 gal/day/person 1 residents/day* 13 gpd/person _
= 13 gpd
Visitor 10 5 gal/visit/person 10 visitors/day*5 gpd/person
= 50 gpd
LNote —gpd is gallons per day.
4
L
"44L
