July 5,2002
Job Number: L602468
Page S
The surface and near surface soils located on the site are reported re to e th
p b e.urban land
complex-(Plate 7). The Soil Survey of San Joaquin County describes the urban land complex as
consisting of closely built-up areas in cities. This area is defined as having more than 85 percent
of the surface covered by development. This area is not studied by the San Joaquin' County Soil
Survey and no information regarding the-on site soil was available for the site.
- A three (3).foot and 25 foot.deep'soil boring was drilled byNeil'O. Anderson&•
Associates, Inc., on June 3, 2002,to characterize the soils near an existing septic system disposal
- field as per the requirements of Sari Joaquin County Environmental Health Division. The two (2)
borings were separated by about five (5) feet•of distance. No ground water was encountered in
the borings. .Generally, silty and clay soil mixtures were present froin the ground surface to 22.5
feet deep.•Between 22.5 feet and 25 feet, a fine to medium sand with small amounts of silt was
present. Table 4 presents the log of the 25-foot soil boring.
Table 4.
25-foot Soil Profile Log.
feet
'Depth p (feet) Soil
0-1 Brown clayey silt with fine sand.
- 1-8 Dark.brown silty clay with fine-to medium sand.
8-13.5 . A three (3)foot deep soil boring was drilled, next to the 25 foot soil boring.
The soils of the shallow boring to a depth of three(3) feet were found to be the same.as the deep
boring
For each percolation test, a two (2) inch PVC pipe'with holes drilled on the bottom was
place in each hole. Two-(2) inches of"pea gravel"was placed in the bottom of hole, the casing
. was installed, and several feet of"pea gravel"was backfilled in the annular space. The -
percolation holes were pre-soaked and a short preliminary test was conducted on June 3, 200.2 to
` determine whether a one (1) hour or.four(4)hour test was required.
