FFandpregsaturated
COLATION TEST RESULTS
ion tests were conducted on October 13 and 16 under U.S.E.P.A. and San Joaquin
ironmental Health guidelines. Each test boring was prepared the day before testing
.. by twice filling the entire depth of the test boring with water. There was noter after the 24-hr pre-saturation period. Since the soil type at typical leachline depth
of 40 inches is a silty sand, the test period was approximately two hours in duration due to the
length of time to travel to each test boring. Parcels 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8 were perc tested on the 131
and Parcels 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11 were perc tested on the 16'. This was done since the distance
was too great between the Parcels to attempt to test them all in one day.
As indicated on the attached FIELD PERCOLATION TESTING REPORTS, the perc rates for
all 11 Parcels are less than 10 minutes per inch and vary between 2.7 and 9.6 min/in. These rates
can be considered rapid and illustrate the porosity of the sandy soil. Almost all of the tests
exhibited a slowdown in the perc rate over time as soil saturation increased. Test results are
summarized below:
PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS
PARCEL No PERC RATE IN MIN/INCH PARCEL No PERC RATE IN MIN/INCH
Parcel 1 4.6 min/in Parcel 7 2.7 min/in
Parcel 2 4.9 min/in Parcel 8 3.5 min/in
Parcel 3 8.5 min/in Parcel 9 3.8 min/in
Parcel 4 9.6 min/in Parcel 10 2.8 min/in
Parcel 5 3.9 min/in Parcel 11 6.9 min/in
Parcel 6 6.2 min/in
- III. NITRATE LOADING STUDY RESULTS
A. GROUNDWATER INFORMATION
1. ESTIMATED GROUNDWATER GRADIENT AND VELOCITY
As referenced above, the static water level under the center of the project is located at 28 ft below
grade according to the Lines of Equal Depth Map published by the San Joaquin County Flood
Control District. The Lines of Equal Elevation map illustrate the groundwater flow to be in a
north-northeast direction. From this map, it is apparent the gradient is very gradual as the flow
travels west-northwest and north-northeast, and then becomes comparatively steep southeast of
the subject site. Additionally, the groundwater direction has been determined by triangulation
and has been plotted on the Lines of Equal Elevation Map.
5
_ 'Va!!ey Ag Research
