WASTE DISCHARGE REQUIRENI-ENTS ORDER NO. -6- <br /> RJM ENTERPRISES,BROWNS LAKE RANCH,AND <br /> RIVERCREST VINEYARDS,INC. <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> 3. Objectionable odors originating at this facility shall not be perceivable beyond the limits of <br /> the property owned by the Discharger. <br /> 4. The effluent in the holding pond shall not exceed the following limits. <br /> Constituent Constituent Monthly Average Daily Maximum <br /> BODS mg/l 40 80 <br /> TDS mg/l 450 1000 <br /> Nitrate as nitrogen mg/l 10 45 <br /> Sulfate mg/l 250 500 <br /> 5. The unlined pond shall not have a pH less than 6.5 or greater than 8.5. <br /> 6. The unlined pond shall be managed to prevent breeding of mosquitos. In particular, <br /> a. An erosion control program should assure that small coves and irregularities are not <br /> created around the perimeter of the water surface. <br /> b. Weeds shall be minimized through control of water depth, harvesting, or herbicides. <br /> c. Dead algae, vegetation, and debris shall not accumulate on the water surface. <br /> 7. The unlined pond shall be operated and maintained to prevent inundation or washout due to <br /> floods with a 100-year return frequency. <br /> 8. Public contact with wastewater shall be precluded through such means as fences, signs, and <br /> other acceptable alternatives. <br /> 9. Freeboard shall never be less than two feet (measured vertically from the lowest point of the <br /> berm). <br /> 10. The unlined pond shall have sufficient capacity to accommodate wastewater flow, <br /> groundwater infiltration, and seasonal precipitation during the rainy season. Design seasonal <br /> precipitation shall be based on total annual precipitation using a return period of 100 years, <br /> distributed monthly in accordance with historical rainfall patterns. <br /> 11. On or about 1 October of each year, available pond storage capacity shall at least equal the <br /> volume necessary to comply with Discharge Specification B 10. <br /> C. Sludge Disposal: <br /> 1. Collected screenings, sludges, and other solids removed from liquid wastes shall be disposed <br /> of in a manner that is consistent with Title 27, Division 2, Subdivision 1 of the CCR and <br /> approved by the Executive Officer. <br /> 2. Any proposed change in sludge disposal from a previously approved practice (as described in <br /> these WDRs) shall be reported to this office at least 90 days in advance of the change. <br />
