Nitrogen Loading Study Report
24754 EAST RIVER ROAD
Escalon, California
WKA No. 11306.01
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Wallace-Kuhl &Associates (WKA) prepared this Nitrogen Loading Study Report to describe
contributions of Nitrogen from two septic systems to be installed at the Morrill Industries facility
(Site) located at 24754 East River Road in Escalon, California. The Site is comprised of 7.95
acres of land. The septic systems are to be located near the East Blasting Building (East Septic
System) and the South Warehouse Building (South Septic System).
2.0 SITE BACKGROUND
Preliminary designs of the septic systems were provided by Wilson Architecture, Inc. and are
summarized in Table A below:
Table A— Septic System Design Summary
Number of Tank Size Leach Field Filter Bed Area
Employees (gallons) (square feet)
East Septic System 4 1,200 900
South Septic System 3 1,200 800
3.0 PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF SOIL
Soil underlying the Site is primarily a brown silty sand. Percolation testing conducted by North
American Technical Services show a percolation rate of 22.7 minutes per inch and 1.7 minutes
per inch for the east and south locations, respectively. There is currently no data which would
suggest a significant chemical impact to soil.
For the purpose of this study, it is assumed that there is no uptake of nitrogen by on-site
vegetation as the leach fields will be constructed below the root zone. It is also assumed that
there are no nitrogen losses during infiltration and a complete conversion of total nitrogen to
nitrate was used for this study.
