SAN JOAQUIN FARM BUREAU FEDERATION
_.. MEETING TODAY'S CHALLENGES/PLANNING FOR TOMORROW
June 29, 2016
Attn: Stephanie Stowers
San Joaquin County Community Development Department RECEIVFM
Development Services Division
1810 E. Because agricultural land is a finite
resource that is constantly stressed by development and regulatory scrutiny, ensuring the preservation
of agricultural land is a top priority for the Farm Bureau. We also strongly support the Williamson Act
program and the many benefits it provides to landowners who choose to reserve their land for
production agriculture.
Our concern with this application is not with the deviation itself, and we are supportive of the
underlying project for an agricultural manufacturing facility. However,we share the Department of
Conservation's concerns that this is a more industrial use than those contemplated by the Williamson
Act.
We would like to see the project move forward with the condition that the applicants file a notice of
non-renewal on their contract. Both the Farm Bureau and San Joaquin County are very supportive of the
Williamson Act so we need to ensure that the principles of compatibility are followed.
Sincerely,
( I/t/G1Ct1r2
President
3290 NORTH AD ART ROAD•STOCKTON,CA•95215•(209)93131931 •(209)931-1433 Fax
WWW.SJFB.ORG
