1/14/2009 <br /> Dear Applicant: <br /> If your project is required to have a traffic study, there are some things you need to know. For your <br /> convenience,the process has been summarized below and includes actions that must take place on <br /> your part. <br /> 1. Your planner informs you that a traffic study is required and you have received this packet. <br /> Provide your planner with a signed letter authorizing San Joaquin County to request a proposal <br /> from the next consultant on the County's consultant rotation list. (Please see the next page for a <br /> sample authorization letter.)If you do not authorize San Joaquin County to request a <br /> proposal,your project will bela aced on hold until such time as you contact your planner. <br /> 2. 4-5 weeksafter your authorization letter is received you will receive a transmittal letter from <br /> the Public Works Department with the cost proposal attached. <br /> Provide the Public Works Department with a check for the amount of the consultant's fees plus <br /> the County's administration fee. This amount will be found on the transmittal letter. The study <br /> will not begin until all fees are paid. <br /> 3. 8-12 weeks•Public Works Department staff receives a draft study�rom the consultant. <br /> No action is necessary on your part. The time vanes due to the nature of the study/project. <br /> 4. 2-3 weeks:Public Works Department will per an internal review and provide comment. <br /> Depending on the location and nature of the study, it may also be sent to Caltrans and/or a <br /> nearby City, which can extend the comment period. <br /> No action is necessary on your part. <br /> 5. 2 -4 weeks:Public Works Department staff reviews compiles and sends the comments <br /> received to the consultant. The consultant will then send back a revised study. <br /> No action is necessary on your part. <br /> 6. 1-3 weeks:Public Works Department staff will receive the flnal study from the consultant <br /> No action is necessary on your part. <br /> 7. 1-2 weeks: You will receive your copy of the final study <br /> Any mitigations mentioned in the study will be reviewed by Public Works Department staff <br /> and included in your project's conditions of approval. <br /> You will receive your copy of the final traffic study a total of 4 to 7 months after providing payment. <br /> You will not receive copies of drafts and/or comments. <br /> Your point of contact will be the Community Development Department planner assigned to your <br /> application. For technical questions relating to public works conditions, such as traffic study <br /> mitigations,your planner may refer you to the Public Works department,Public Services division <br /> where your contact will be Alex Chetley, or other Public Services Division staff associated with your <br /> application.
