PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: Portion Sec. 15, T. 4 N. R. 7 E, Calif. Village Farm Tract. Subd.
"E"APN 007-07-29 10 Acres.
SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
This Soil Suitability Study presents the results of physical testing and inspection to determine if
the soil strata,to 251,will support an onsite septic system for a single family residence..
Percolation testing, water testing and visual inspection were conducted. The procedures comply
with the requirements of the Environmental Health Department of San Joaquin County.
DEVELOPMENT OF THE SITE
The existing parcel is to be split into two parcels. Parcel 2 is developed and contains a single
family residence, a bam, metal building and supporting utilities. (Well & septic). The new parcel
is vacant, (Parcel 1). Parcel 1 is to be sold. Access is from Sowles Road for both parcels. Sowles
Road carries both passenger and local truck traffic.
DESCRIPTION OF SOIL TYPE
The USDA Soil Survey of San Joaquin County(Unit#111) states in the descriptive narrative,
page 32,the following:If this unit is used for homesite development, the main limitation is the
moderately slow permeability. On sites for septic tank absorption fields, this limitation can be
overcome by increasing the size of the absorption field
Drilling to 25' to determine a percoble layer indicated 0-3' tan dense clay, 3'-5' darker clay, 5'-10'
moist clay, 10'-13' wet clay, and dense dry clay 13'-25'.
PERCOLATION TESTING
Percolation testing began on July 19,2002. A truck mounted drill rig was employed to auger a
shallow and deep hole on each of the two parcels. From visual inspection and drilling difficulty it
was determined between 6 and 7 feet would be tested forAe deep t=c. The shallow holes were
36-42" deep. Again on Aug. 19, 2002 both lots were again tested. Mr. Walt Curtis,a Civil
Engineer licensed in the State of California performed the testing. Mr. Johnny Yoakum,R.E.H.S.
of the Environmental Health Department, County of San Joaquin was present for the critical
readings. The testing procedure was in accordance with the EHD, Standards& Policies as
published.
The testing on July 19 on Parcel l (developed parcel) failed at both the shallow and deep holes.
The testing on Parcel 1 (vacant parcel)failed at the deep test. The shallow test indicated
questionable readings. The final reading of 5/8" was satisfactory. An additional reading was made
30 minutes after the testing period ended and read 3/8". The readings were made with a battery
operated water surface detector, which required visual reading of the depth on the tape. The
additional testing on Aug. 19 resulted in failure of all tests on both parcels.
