HISTORY OF PARCEL
The owner was interviewed on Monday AM, Mar. 25, 2002 (Monday mornings availability only
at site) and stated he has owned the property for 10 years. The Property Detail shows a recording
date of 1991. The use has been pasture during his ownership. Oats were planted for one year. He
has not applied any chemicals to the pasture. The existing irrigation well, at one time, supplied
water to an estimated 30 acres. A domestic well exists to supply water to the residence. The land
along Sowles Road in this area is developed into residential, 5 acre parcels minimum. During the
past five years, no record of chemical use was recorded by the Agricultural Commissioner's
Office in San Joaquin County. The Geological Survey Map(1970-1977) of this area shows the
agricultural features for that time frame. It is evident the land was pasture or row crop and not
orchard. The soils log for a new well (72-84V) located 1/4 mile north of Peltier Rd. on the west
side of Sowles shows l' of top soil,then 16' of sandy clay. A 4'layer of sand exists from I T - 21'
below the surface. The residence has been rented out and the owner has lived elsewhere. It
appears there has been a gradual accumulation of trash over the years. The owner has removed
the renters and has started clean-up operations. The barn appears unsafe from a visual inspection,
and the owner is considering demolition rather than repair.
The proposed parcels have access from Sowles Road.
VISUAL FIELD INSPECTION (Sl
A field inspection was completed on March 25, 2002. No evidence of chemical spraying was
found.. Photograph A shows some of the trash piles mentioned above. The existing barn is shown
in Photograph B. A portion of the pasture is shown in Photograph C. Photograph D shows the
front yard trees and side fence at the residence. The newer metal garage is shown in C & D.
Several barrels are located in the bam. The owner stated he does not wish to dispose of them at
present. He will label the engine oil, diesel, etc. as appropriate or dispose. No drainage channels
or watercourses were observed at or near the site. The general land slope is to the southwest. The
90'elevation contour runs thru the site. The residence was not inspected. The trees in the front
yard and the pasture appear healthy on date of inspection. There was no odor in the air on the
premises to indicate chemical presence.
RECORDS SEARCH
The Environmental Health Records were examined for nearby contamination sites with
negative results indicated in the Register Log. The USGS Map for this area is included in this
report. The Map is dated 1967. The site is indicated and is located in the area of the Lodi Gas
Field. The County Maps, "Lines of equal Depth and Lines of Equal Elevation" for the site area are
included in the report. The depth to water contour of 110'is near the site. The Soils Map of the
County is included and shows moderately well drained and moderately course textured soils.
This report does not constitute a health report. No samples were analyzed for this report.
2.
