NA NA Yes❑ No❑X Yes ❑ No❑X
Yes❑ No❑X Yes❑ No❑X
ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION
USE ADDITIONAL PAPER, IF NECESSARY)
Water,Drainage and Flooding
Describe any areas subject to flooding (include flood depths and flood panel map number): The entire Island, with the exception of the
northern approximately 1000 feet, is in Flood Zone A2,which is an area subject to 100-year folding and for which base flood elevations
and flood hazard factors have not been determined. The northern 1000 feet is in Zone C, which is an area of minimal flooding and
shown on the enclosed Flood Panel Map 060299 0265B.
Describe the current depth of the ground water and depth to potable water: From limited exploratory excavations and site observations
ground water is approximated to be at high tide level:Approximately 5 feet deep along lower elevations near the historic public beach
areas and the southern tip of the Island and approximately 12 feet deep at higher elevations near the northern tip of the Island.
Describe any existing drainage courses or eroded areas on or near the project site(e.g. rivers, creeks, swales or drainage ditches):
The northern part of the island is a dredge spoils area with little vegetation, other than scattered coyote brush. The central section of
the island was formerly the Old Channel that separated Spud and Hog Islands, Spud to the north and Hog to the south. The Stockton
Deep Water Channel bisected Spud and Hog Islands west to east, leaving parts of Spud and Hog Islands on each side of the Deep
Water Channel and both sides still separated by the Old Channel. The Old Channel silted in and connected the northern part of Spud
with the southern part of Hog,thus making one island that exists today. The island is bordered on the east by the Deep Water
Channel and connected to the Haypress Reach at the northern end of the island and to Twenty-Nine Mile Cut at the southern end.
Haypress Reach and Twenty-Nine Mile Cut merge on the west side of the island.
Land, land Use and Biota
Describe the site's topography(e.g. land forms, slopes, etc.):The island has gentle slopes running from the water inland over the
entire island, with the exception of high banks around the dredge spoils area on the northern end of the island.
Describe agricultural land that will be lost as a result of the project(type of crops, acres, quality of soil, etc.): Although the island was
historically fanned, after the Stockton Deep Water Channel divided both Spud and Hog Islands agricultural operations ceased and the
Island has not been used for fanning ever since. The dredge spoils area and existing marshes make it very unlikely that the island
would ever be used for agricultural operations again.
Describe any wildlife habitat on-site and species that are or may be present: See Project Description
Describe any vegetation on-site by type and extent: See Project Description
F.\DEVSVOPlanning Application FomsWse Permit.(Revised 6-03-04) Page 9 of 9
