Z
VA &
SSOCIATES
MAY 2 9 1990
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
24 May 1990
Mr. Fred Kaufman
Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
San Joaquin County
1601 East Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Application No. SA-89-45 of Modtech in Lathrop, CA
Conditions of approval II ( l ) and II ( 3 )
Dear Mr. Kaufman:
This letter is a follow-up to our meeting of April 16, 1990,
where we discussed the proposal submitted to you by Mr. Burgess
for the provision of water to the above site. At that meeting we
discussed the fact that water for domestic use (potable water)
was required as a condition of site approval to be provided by a
public water system. Additionally, we discussed the fact that
water used strictly for fire suppression did not have to meet the
same standards as potable water. Thus, if dual independent
water systems are constructed to; 1 ) provide potable water, and
2 ) provide water for fire suppression, the conditions set forth
in the Site Approval would be met.
On May 22, 1990 Modtech obtained approval from the Lathrop
County Water District for the District to provide potable water
for domestic use to the manufacturing site located at 12030
Harlan Road, Lathrop, California, via a four inch temporary line.
Based on our telephone discussion of April 18, 1990 it is my
understanding that the provision of potable water for domestic
use at the subject property by the Lathrop County Water District
complies with the Environmental Health condition of connecting to
an approved public water supply system.
Condition of approval II( 3 ) requires that any continued use
of the existing wells on the subject property must be approved by
your department. Therefore , we are requesting that approval be
granted to use well AG-12 for the purpose of supplying water to a
fire suppression system which would use the water on an emergency
basis only.
