rThe domestic well is proposed to be drilled northwest of the disposal area, which is downgradient,
or possibly crossgradient to the leachfield. The separation distance between the well and the
leachlines will be approximately 140 ft, and 185 ft from the seepage pits. It will also be at the
discretion of EHD to test the future well for the agrichemical DBCP and nitrate.
It is important to recognize that all septic systems have a lifespan, which is dependant on several
factors and is therefore difficult to determine. Leachline failure would primarily result from the
advanced formation of a "biomat" or"clogging mat" on the wetted soil/effluent interface. This mat
is composed mostly of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and bacterial products consisting of a slime of
polyuronides and polysaccharides. If the soil/effluent interface is well aerated, a variety of soil
microfauna such as nematodes and protozoa may digest the clogging mat bacteria.
Since the shallow subsurface soils on the property consist of cemented sands, silts, and some clays,
anaerobic conditions may prevail over time which may accelerate biomat formation. As referenced,
the deep septic system structures will manage the majority of effluent volume. Biomat formation
will occur over time in these structures.
In unsewered areas and/or areas that have been, or currently are under agricultural production, it is
highly recommended that bottled water be used for drinking and cooking purposes.
LIMITATIONS
The findings, testing, opinions and conclusions of this report are based upon information from
standard engineering and analytical test procedures, contemporary scientific literature and agency
consultations. Information in this report is deemed reliable by the sources from where it was
obtained. Results of the percolation testing should be assumed to only represent the subsurface
conditions encountered in the specific location of testing as denoted on the preliminary Plot Plan,
and not of the entire subject Parcel land area.
This report is based upon current scientific knowledge to assess factors which are extremely
variable and complex within the environment. San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department Sewage Standards have been employed for the purpose of preparing this study.
Therefore, no guarantee or warranty is expressed or implied concerning any aspect of this
investigation, the prevention of environmental impact, or related issues.
I appreciate the opportunity to provide this service for you. If there should be any questions
regarding the information contained within this report, please contact me.
AAA 4t
Respectfully submitted, /o_ SHF
(§ 7.1) CHES>FY CONSULTING
4k No. 04675.
Don Chesney, R.E.A.- * Expires: G 3i•GG x
Registered Environm ntal Assessor#4675 N„ P
Page- -01V CALI
Chesney Consulting
