Lisa Medina N.00 14-01
December 29,2003
Page 4
• Section 6.5: See above.
• Section 6.8: The design should follow the EHD Sewage Standards. No engineered design
or layout is necessary. There appears to be ample room for the system and replacement
area. A possible layout is presented next.
Base Tank Capacity(BTC) = 1200 gal
Average Daily Flow (ADF) = 150 gal
Calculated Tank Capacity(CTC) =BTC +ADF
1200+ 150 = 1350 gallons
Soil Factor= .225
1350 x .225 = 304 feet leach line
Use seepage pits: 3 at 33-inch diameter for an equal length of 180 feet.
60%must be in leach line—therefore 304 ft x 0.60= 182 ft must be in leach line.
Tank size: 1,600 gallons.
Use three (3) 60 foot leach lines with a 33-in diameter seepage pit attached to each leach
line. Including 5-ft property line set backs, the primary leach field area would be 44 ft
wide x 77 feet long. Seepage pits would need to be placed 100 feet from domestic wells
and leach lines set back at 50 feet from water wells. The primary septic area would be
approximately 3,388 SF. The reserve area would be approximately 3,388 SF.
Nitrate Loading Study
• Section 2.2: By inspection of the existing property, there are no known potential ground
water contamination issues recognized for the property. Regarding the surrounding area,
the use of a septic system should be considered as a potential ground water contamination
source.
• Section 3.1: The use of septic systems in the area are a potential off site source of nitrate
contamination of ground water. No nitrate/nitrogen generating uses were recognized.
• Section 3.3: The site is vacant. There are no dairies, agriculture, or septic uses on the site.
• Section 3.4: Future sources of onsite nitrate contamination is the use of the septic system.
Its impact is calculated in the revised nitrate loading equation attached to this letter.
• Section 3.6: The Nc value calculated for the site is 8.6 mg/L-N. That's the level the
aquifer may potentially build-up should the effluent reach ground water.
• Section 4.2 No mitigation is proposed.
Mr. Hughes has indicated that the use is for two (2) employees and approximately 30 customers.
This is the use level presented in the original report. Mr. Hughes also indicated this expected
level of use in a handwritten notation to our office which is attached to this letter.
Our professional services were performed, our findings obtained, and our conclusions proposed
?pERtO
 N
> .n
'/.
