San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District June 24, 1997 Chandler Martin JUN 2 6 1997 San Joaquin County Community Development Department Comm"ILY DevelUPmeflt Dept Development Services Division 1810 East Hazelton Avenue Stockton, CA 95205 SUBJECT.- MINOR SUBDIVISION APPLICATION TO DIVIDE A 423.3-ACRE PARCEL INTO TWO PARTS (MS-97-12) Dear Mr. Martin: The San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District has reviewed the proposed project and offers the following comments: The San Joaquin Valley's air quality has been designated serious nonattainment by the EPA and severe nonattainment by the Air Resources Board (ARB) for 03 (ozone). PM- 10 (fine particulate matter, dust) has been designated serious nonattainment by the EPA and nonattainment by the ARB. The Federal Clean Air Act (CAA) and the California Clean Air Act require areas that are designated nonattainment to reduce emissions until standards are met. Based on the information provided, it appears that this project will have a less-than- significant impact on the ambient air quality. As a result, a negative declaration is appropriate from an air quality perspective. However, the District would appreciate the opportunity to comment on this project if any development is planned in the future. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
