Attachment 1
Supplement to Project Description— Proposal
Our business operations include the following:
E-waste Collection
1. Accepting truckload and roll-off bin quantities of electronics from our customers (County solid
waste disposal sites, Waste Management Companies, large businesses)
2. Picking up electronics from residents and businesses locally, bringing them back to the facility
in our 26 foot trucks
3. Conducting monthly e-waste collection events throughout the County, bringing the a-waste
back to our warehouse in trailers
4. Accepting small amounts of a-waste from the public at our facility (generally people who cannot
wait for a collection event or pickup or don't want to drive to a County solid waste facility). This is
generally 5-10 drop-offs per week.
E-waste Disassembly
1. Manually disassembling electronics (TV's, computers, printers, stereos, copiers, telephones,
etc.) using hand held cordless drills
2. Sorting and packaging of components removed from electronics (plastic, glass, wood, various
metals). This includes the use of a small cardboard baler for plastic.
3. Loading and shipping of sorted components to recyclers and metal scrap yards.
Appliance Recycling
In addition to e-waste recycling, we also conduct appliance recycling. This makes up about 10%
of our business. The majority of this is done off-site at our clients locations (solid waste facilities),
where we remove any refrigerants, mercury switches, fluorescent lights and capacitors, leaving
the appliances at our client's sites.
We do, however, have a few clients who only incidentally receive a few appliances with their
electronics and these come to our facility, and the County occasionally asks us to pick up an
appliance from one of their facilities. At our facility, we remove the refrigerants, mercury
switches, fluorescent lights and capacitors. The appliances are then sent to a scrap metal yard.
If you are interested in seeing our operations, you are more than welcome to visit our current
facility. We would be more than happy to give you a tour and answer any questions you may
have.
