5 . Owner : Estebon Castaneda
Address: 12858 East Tokay Colony Road
Location : Immediately East of site
Septic : Eight to ten years old
All the above reported no problems with their leach fields. The
reason a new system was constructed on Parcel One was that the
old system was composed of a redwood tank . It was ancient and
inadequate. When the house was remodeled he installed a
completely new system.
GROUND WATER
All the wells we found in the area were submersible with the
exception of an agricultural well on A.P.N. 063-210-13 and it
did not have a sounding tube. No soundings were made to
determine the water table.
All the people previously listed as interviewed had no idea of
the depth to ground water except Mr . Baumgarten who believed it
to be sixty feet deep.
From the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation
Study, we found that the actual ground water depth below ground
was approximately 100 feet deep ( Exhibit 2) and the water
gradient was southerly and fell approximately seven feet per
mile ( Exhibit 3) .
In containers supplied by F .G.L . Laboratories we took a tap
water sample at the site. The results are shown on Exhibit 4 .
The laboratory found that the water contained 43 mg/ l of
nitrates and the State allowable concentration is 45 mg/l , Mr .
Harris was notified of this by phone 2/7/91 .
SOILS AND PERCOLATION TESTS
Per the "Soils of San Joaquin County" as published by the
University of California, the soil is Landlow adobe clay and
Wyman clay, poorly drained . We encountered a dark brown ,
difficult to dig clay.
On January the 23rd we ran percolation tests as shown on Exhibit
5. The test for Parcel 1 was passed , but the one for Parcel 2
failed . On January the 30th, Parcel 2 was retested and passed ,
see Exhibit 6.
In all cases, three tests, the test holes were six inches in
diameter and three feet deep. All tests were run under permit
and inspection by the San Joaquin County Health Department .
