Waddell Property Page 4 of 8
NOA Job Number: E07156A
November 1, 2007
5.0 SOIL PROFILE AND GEOLOGIC INFORMATION
The site is depicted on the USGS Preliminary Geologic Map as Quaternary Modesto Formation
Upper Member (Qm2f) (Plate 7). The unit is described as foothill-derived alluvial silt, clay, and
minor sand forming terraces, upper fans and following distributaries across lower fans;
abundant volcanic detritus.
The surface and near surface soils located at the site are reported by the San Joaquin County
Soil Survey to be composed of Finrod clay loam, with 0 to 2 percent slopes (Plate 8) (USDA,
1992). The table below presents some selected properties of these soils:
Table 1.
San Joaquin County Soil Survey
Selected Soil Properties of On-Site Soils.
Soil Name Depth Unified Soil Classification Salinity Soil Perme- Septic
and Map (in) (mmhos/cm) Reaction ability tank
Symbol pH (in/hr) absorpti
on fields
Finrod clay 0-8 Clay loam; CL <2 6.6-7.8 2.0-0.6 Severe:
loam, 0-2% 8-33 Clay loam, clay; CL, CH <2 6.6-7.8 0.06-0.2 peres
slopes, 158. 33-48 Clay loam, silty clay loam, clay; <2 7.4-8.4 0.06-0.2 slowly
_ CL, CH
48-60 Cemented
5.1 Soil Boring Locations
A total of four (4) soil borings were advanced on the site, two (2) borings to an approximate
depth of 25 feet and (2) borings to an approximate depth of 3 feet. The soil borings were used
later for percolation test holes; the locations of the borings are indicated in Plate 1.
5.2 Soil Boring Dimensions
As noted above, the soil borings were approximately 3 and 25 feet deep, respectively, and they
were approximately 4 inches in diameter.
5.3 Soil Lithology Observed
Generally, the soils encountered in the borings were similar to the soils reported by the San
Joaquin County Soil Survey for the area (USDA, 1992). The table below presents the soil log for
the 25 foot deep soil borings. Conditions were comparable in the shallower holes.
902 Industrial Wav•Lodi.CA 95240•2093673701 •Fax?_09 169 4??R rr,?nn7 AL,;/n A.,4------0- --
