FALL CREEK
REPORT OF WASTE DISCHARGE , ENGINEERING.INC.
• The average surface loading rates for BOD is within the range found acceptable for
subsurface wetlands designed to treat winery process wastewater.
• The concentration of total nitrogen remaining in the treated effluent and applied to the land
disposal area is projected to be well below the agronomic rate required by the grasses planted
_ in the area. Therefore, the disposal of treated effluent containing nitrogen from the
constructed wetland will not impair groundwater quality underlying the land disposal area.
`• • The total concentration of inorganic dissolved solids (IDS) in the water applied to the land
disposal(with the exception of irrigation water) is relatively low and well below the
agronomic rates for grasses or other more sensitive crops that could be grown in the area.
Further reduction of IDS is expected to occur in the land disposal area soils.
•. • Comparing the total IDS concentration applied to the land disposal area over the year to the
ground water quality objective established for ground water in the San Joaquin Basin set at
450 mg/L, FCE concludes that the discharge of treated effluent to the land disposal area will
not impair the beneficial use of ground water underlying the land disposal system.
`, • If the IDS loading is determined to be too high for the proposed 0.6 acre land disposal area,
the Winery can apply the water over a larger area. The Winery owns 320 acres of pasture,
vineyards and oak woodlands that could receive the wastewater.
%W
%W
%W
%W
%W
`.
r..
,*.
`.
♦.
JESSIE'S GROVE WINERY 27 FEBRUARY 2004
