2.2 Proposed Development
A minor subdivision is proposed to split the Site into two 40-acre Parcels and a
designated remainder (Plate 3). No changes in land use are proposed, according to Mr.
Burns.
2.3 Topography
A recent U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute topographic map was obtained from the
San Joaquin County District Viewer. In the map, most of the northern half of the Site is
depicted as vineyard, and the southern half is depicted as open, agricultural land. An
irrigation canal running east-west is shown crossing the Site. The property is
approximately 26 to 30 feet above mean sea level and is relatively flat. Surrounding
properties are shown to be vineyards, orchards, and open, agricultural land. This map
is included as Plate 4 in Appendix 1.
3.0 HISTORICAL RESEARCH
3.1 Aerial Photographs
Live Oak reviewed aerial photographs of the Site provided by the San Joaquin County
Surveyor's Office in Stockton, California. The available photographs were dated 1940,
1952, 1963, and 1975. Two additional photographs, dated October 1998 and
September 2008, were obtained from the San Joaquin County District Viewer.
In the 1940 photo, a portion of the Site appears to be planted with vineyard. The
remainder of the Site appears to be planted with fodder or row crops. An irrigation canal
can be seen crossing the Site. Surrounding properties include vineyards and pasture
land, with scattered rural residences.
In the 1952 photo, no significant changes are apparent.
In the 1963 photo, an additional portion of the Site is planted with vineyard. No other
significant changes are apparent.
In the 1975 photo, an additional portion of the Site is planted with vineyard. No other
significant changes are apparent.
In the 1998 photo, an additional portion of the Site is planted with vineyard. The
irrigation canal crossing the Site has been replaced by one along the northern property
line. No other significant changes are apparent.
LOGE 1302 Page 2
