Dec 13 O1ZT'354a Don Ghesney 668-2598 p. 3
Soil test results for Field"B" are not missing because Field B was not tested. Although Field
"B"was denoted on the Site Plan found in the Appendix,it was actually just an extension of
Field "A" and therefore, not specifically tested. It is my opinion that sufficient samples were
retrieved to adequately assess the cropland soils and groundwater east of the dairy facility.
In reference to the comment regarding the application of fly-ash to the
wrrals:'fhe important
issue regarding the application of fly-ash is twofold. First,it is a tremendous improvement over
leaving the surface of the corral soils and manure storage eueu soils will,no benefit of impeding
nutrient water infiltration and percolation. Secondly, the fly-ash is in essence a"cap" that will
prevent hydraulic head water from pushing nutrients further through the soil profile and into the
groundwater under concentrated areas, such as the corrals and manure storage areas.
1 trust the information contained within this Addendum has fulfilled the request ol'U,c San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Deartment.
